NECHV’s 1st annual golf tournament, Chipping In for Veterans, was a rousing success! The event was held on May 23rd, 2016 at the picturesque Dedham Country and Polo Club, made more beautiful by the excellent weather that day. 120 golfers turned out to support the Center and the programs and services it provides to Veterans.
The day began with a putting contest and the chance to spend some time on the driving range. The lucky winner of the putting contest received a $100 gift certificate to the club’s pro shop. The game officially began after the National Anthem and Presentation of Colors, and introductions by Chipping In for Veterans Committee Co-Chairs Dan Holland and Beirne Lovely, as well as words of welcome and gratitude from NECHV CEO and President Andy McCawley.
The game was played in a bramble format, and the pace was smooth and even. Players had the opportunity to show off and test their skills through contests along the course, including ones for a Hole in One, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive.
Following the game, golfers relaxed out on the clubhouse porch where they had the opportunity to bid on special items in a silent auction, including concert tickets, Red Sox vs. Yankees tickets, and a football autographed by New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Attendees moved into the ballroom for dinner and an awards ceremony, where they were addressed again by Holland, Lovely, and McCawley.
Most importantly, with the support of all the day’s sponsors and golfers, NECHV was able to raise well over $100,000 for the programs and services for Veterans at 17 Court Street. We are immensely grateful to all who participated and helped to make this first Chipping In for Veterans tournament so successful. We look forward to seeing you again next year out on the course!
