A team of volunteers from Fidelity Investments visited NECHV to lend their expertise in the Center’s Veterans Training School (VTS). The visit was part of the Fidelity Cares initiative, a community service program in which over 10,000 Fidelity employees generously give their time to nonprofit organizations around the country. NECHV was lucky to benefit from a visit from Fidelity in 2015, and was honored to be able to welcome a group of volunteers again this year.
Volunteers held mock interviews with Veterans, reviewed resumes, and offered tips to help them stand out in a pool of applicants. The advice given by the Fidelity volunteers is a valuable complement to the skills Veterans learn in the Training School, and will go a long way to helping Veterans find meaningful and lasting employment. Still more volunteers spent their time in the kitchen, serving lunch to the Veterans and taking the time to sit and talk with them. The time, knowledge, and caring given by the Fidelity Cares volunteers is deeply appreciated, and already NECHV looks forward to welcoming them back in 2017.
