On October 25th, NECHV President and CEO Andy McCawley completed the 40th Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. Running on behalf of NECHV, this was Andy’s fourth Marine Corps Marathon, which he first ran in 1977. This year’s MCM was the third largest in its history with over 23,000 runners making it to the finish line. Congratulations, Andy, on a successful run to raise resources and awareness of the challenges faced by Veterans; our sincere thanks to everyone who generously offered their support to Andy and the Center.
The first Marine Corps Marathon was run in 1976. Its mission is to promote goodwill between the Marines and the larger community, to promote physical fitness, and to showcase the organizational skills of the Marines. Since its founding, it has grown to become the fourth largest marathon in the United States.
