Veterans Day is always filled with special events at NECHV and 2016 was no exception. The day began with breakfast sponsored and served by Bank of America, and attended by New England Patriots alumnus Max Lane. Lunch was sponsored and served by an enthusiastic group from Columbia Threadneedle. Nate Boyer, former NFL player and former US Army Green Beret, visited, sitting and talking with Veterans who were finishing lunch.
In the evening, Goodwin was on hand to sponsor and serve their 17th annual Veterans Day Turkey Dinner, which was made all the more special by a visit from the Red Sox Caravan. The Caravan included Red Sox alumnus Sam Hunt (who was also an anchor for the New England Sports Network), the World Series Trophies, and everyone’s favorite green monster, Wally. Caravan staff also handed out special commemorative merchandise to Veterans.
NECHV also received some special deliveries during the day. The moving service Two Men and Truck delivered 2,600 items for Veterans at the Center that they collected through their 1st annual Movers for Military drive. Two representatives from the Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Concord also visited, bringing with them items collected during a drive they held. Everyone at NECHV is truly grateful for the support and good wishes received here on Veterans Day, and on all other days.
