Donor Advised Funds
Donor advised funds (DAFs) are an increasingly popular way to make charitable gifts. They provide immediate tax benefits while simplifying charitable giving.
As a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization, NECHV is eligible for and appreciates receiving grants from DAFs.
If you would like to recommend a grant to NECHV from Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable, you can click the hyperlink of your chosen charitable fund, which will simplify your charitable giving process. If your DAF is through another group, please contact them directly.
If you have questions about giving through a DAF, please contact us via email at development@nechv.org or call 617-371-1798.
When recommending a gift. Please use our legal name and federal tax ID:
Legal Name: Vietnam Veterans Workshop, Inc., dba New England Center and Home for Veterans
Address: 17 Court Street, Boston MA 02108
Federal Tax ID Number: 04-3007211
You can designate NECHV as a successor beneficiary to receive some or all of the fund’s final balance. To begin this process, please contact your administrator or log in to your DAF account to obtain the necessary form(s) for arranging your philanthropic plan for NECHV. Ensure NECHV is listed as a beneficiary or account successor upon fund termination.

Tribute-In Memory, In Honor, or In Lieu of Flowers
Losing a loved one brings a time of reflection and offers an opportunity to create a lasting tribute in honor of their life, military service, and accomplishments. Establishing a “Tribute Gift,” “Gifts in Lieu of Flowers,” or “Charitable Gifts in Memory” is a dignified and meaningful way to celebrate their legacy. Tribute gifts will be acknowledged to both the donor and the next of kin within a week of receipt, and they will begin supporting Veterans immediately.
You and your loved ones can contribute any amount online by clicking the button below, or you can mail your gift to us at:

To indicate the New England Center and Home for Veterans as a tribute recipient
We suggest including the following message or something similar in the obituary when requesting donations in memory of your loved one:
“In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in the name of the deceased to the New England Center and Home for Veterans at 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.”
If you are the next of kin, please call 617-371-1798 or email development@nechv.org, and we will guide you through this process.
For donors
To have your gift recognized as a tribute donation, please include the honoree’s name when submitting your gift, either by mail or online. You can also provide contact information for those you wish to inform about the donation. The Center will send an acknowledgment letter on your behalf. Make checks payable to the New England Center and Home for Veterans or NECHV.
Gifts of Stock, Bonds, or Mutual Fund Shares
Gifts of appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares) are generally tax-deductible at their fair market value if owned for at least 12 months. To avoid capital gains taxes, you must transfer ownership to the NECHV brokerage account. Consult your tax adviser to ensure your gift meets your financial goals and for all tax advice and counsel.
Please call 617-371-1798 or email development@nechv.org so we can identify and credit your gift when the transfer is made.
To achieve your philanthropic goals, please follow these instructions.
- Electronic transfer is preferred. Please instruct your broker to transfer the stock to the Center’s account (as shown below). The Center will immediately sell the stocks and credit you with a charitable contribution in accordance with IRS rules, based on the average stock price of the day of the gift.
- Please notify the Center immediately preceding the transfer or immediately following so that we may advise our broker of the gift and sell the shares accordingly.
- Please call if you prefer a physical transfer of shares, and we will coordinate with you.
- PLEASE NOTE: The New England Center and Home for Veterans is a private not-for-profit organization that was founded under the name Vietnam Veterans Workshop, Inc.
