2017 Stand Down Reaches 600 Local Veterans
The 2017 Greater Boston Stand Down, presented by Citizens Bank, took place on September 8 at its new location on Boston City Hall Plaza. Just over 600 local Veterans attended to receive services from over 100 providers at no cost, including health and dental care, housing assistance, and legal expertise. Job placement opportunities were also available to Veterans who attended. 66 Veterans were either offered a job or interviewed that day and invited for a second interview.
The event included entertainment and other activities as well. Local band Ramshackle and the 105.7 WROR Street Team both attended to provide hit music throughout the day. In the wellness tent, Veterans could participate in tai chi exercises and reiki treatments.
The NECHV is proud to host an event that brings Veterans the services they need in one place. The Greater Boston Stand Down would not be successful without the assistance of our public and private partners, and the service providers and volunteers who donate their skills, knowledge, effort, and time.
