Freedom Fighters Play for NECHV
The Freedom Fighters Hockey team once again squared off against the Boston Bruins Alumni team in support of the New England Center and Home for Veterans! The 6th annual game took place on March 25, 2018, at 7:00 PM at the Stoneham Arena.
The Freedom Fighters team was created in 2012 by Frank Scioli, a Stoneham resident and longtime hockey player who became inspired to find his own way to help Veterans after witnessing the difficulties his father-in-law, a Vietnam Veteran, experienced when seeking support and services for health issues. Scioli gathered a group of friends and together they formed the Freedom Fighters Hockey team. The Boston Bruins Alumni team agreed to participate, and a tradition was born.
Last year, the team raffled off a one-of-a-kind hockey mask made by Jesse’s Custom Design. The design represented both the Freedom Fighters and the Boston Bruins Alumni and commemorated the 5th anniversary of the event. Due to the success of last year’s raffle, Jesse’s Custom Design designed another mask for this year’s event, and even dropped the puck to start the game!
We had a great time, and can’t wait for next year!
