Freedom Fighters 5th Annual Hockey Game for NECHV
Freedom Fighters Hockey played its 5th annual game in support of New England Center and Home for Veterans against the Boston Bruins Alumni on April 1, 2017.
The Freedom Fighters team was created in 2012 by Frank Scioli, a Stoneham resident and longtime hockey player who became inspired to find his own way to help Veterans after witnessing the difficulties his father-in-law, a Vietnam Veteran, experienced when seeking support and services for health issues. Scioli gathered a group of friends and together they formed the Freedom Fighters Hockey team. The Boston Bruins Alumni team agreed to participate, and the tradition has now entered its fifth year.
To celebrate their 5th anniversary, the team raffled off a one-of-a-kind hockey mask that represented both the Freedom Fighters and the Boston Bruins Alumni and commemorated the milestone anniversary. The mask was custom made and donated by Jesse’s Custom Design in Wilmington, MA.
