News at NECHV
The holiday program matches Veterans’ wish lists with generous donors who purchase and wrap some or all of the requested items and deliver them to the Center. Over the years, the popularity of the program has surged, and while lists are quickly distributed, there is still a need for gift cards to help support Veterans over the holidays. Gift cards are a way for NECHV to ensure that no Veteran served at the Center misses out on enjoying the holiday spirit, even if they did not submit a wish list, which might happen if a Veteran arrived at the Center after the deadline has passed. Additionally, gift cards can help Veterans purchase items they need throughout the year. They can also help them buy essentials for a new home. The most requested gift cards that can help Veterans purchase necessities are those from major clothing retailers, like TJX (TJX gift cards can be used at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or HomeGoods), Target, or Macy’s; pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens; supermarkets like Stop and Shop, Roche Bros., and Star Market; and set-value amount T passes (no day/weekly/monthly passes please). Other popular cards are Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, Burger King, Five Guys, and AMC movie theater gift cards. Please exclude any gift cards to a store or activity that sells alcohol. To donate gift cards, please email CJ Beck, Philanthropic Officer, Community Engagement. In your email, please be sure to tell us your full name, email, organization, and mailing address. Please also include the number of gift cards you would like to donate, and the types of cards you are interested in donating (major pharmacies, supermarkets, major retailers, or T-passes).
