Gift Cards Needed for Gift-a-Vet Program
You can help to make the holiday season bright for Veterans at the NECHV by donating gift cards through our Gift-a-Vet program! The annual holiday program matches Veterans’ wish lists with generous donors who purchase and wrap some or all of the requested items and deliver them to the Center. Since its beginning, the program has grown in popularity and this year’s wish lists are currently all sponsored by generous community supporters. However, there is still a need for gift cards to help support Veterans over the holidays and beyond.
Gift cards help the NECHV to ensure that no Veteran at the Center misses out on taking part in Gift-a-Vet, even if they did not submit a wish list, which might happen if a Veteran arrived at the Center after the deadline to submit wish lists has passed. Additionally, gift cards can help Veterans purchase items they need throughout the year, such as essentials for a new home or necessities like toiletries and groceries.
The most popular gift cards are those from major clothing retailers, like TJX (TJX gift cards can be used at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or HomeGoods), Target, or Macy’s; pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens; supermarkets like Roche Bros., Stop and Shop, and Star Market; and set-value amount MBTA tickets (no day, week, or monthly passes, please). Other requested cards are Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, Burger King, Five Guys, and AMC movie theater gift cards. Please exclude any gift cards to stores or activities that sell alcohol.
To donate gift cards, please email CJ Beck, Philanthropic Officer, Community Engagement. In your email, please be sure to tell us your full name, email, organization (if applicable), and mailing address. Please also include the number of gift cards you would like to donate, and the types of cards you are interested in donating (major pharmacies, supermarkets, retailers, or T-passes). Thank you for spreading holiday cheer at the NECHV!
